The Key Performance Indicators that influence the profitability of the sow are:

Number of healthy weaners
Piglet birth/weaning weight (milk yield/composition)
Sow body condition (returns and number born alive)
Sow return to service/strong heats (empty days/returns)
Number of sows reaching parity 6 and greater (herd profile and culling)
Boar sperm count and motility

In comparison with 20 years ago, today's breeding sow has a very different body composition. Unless recognised and accounted for, there can be a significant impact on the sow's lifetime performance.
