The manufacture of animal feed requires careful management of both the raw materials themselves and of the production process. Ingredients used in animal feed include cereals, cereal by-products, proteins (from either vegetable or animals sources), co-products from human food manufacture, minerals, vitamins and feed additives.
It is essential that the nutritional value of the raw materials is maximised by preventing deterioration, and through the preservation of the feed itself once it has been manufactured. Cost effective preservation can be achieved through the use of Salgard antibacterial products and Moldgard to reduce mould growth. The negative impacts of mycotoxins on animal performance can be reduced through the use of our toxin binders Mycobond and Zetox. Oxidation of key nutrients in the feeds can be managed through the use of our range of Antioxidants.
Optivite can help enhance feed quality through the use of enzyme products, Optizyme, Wheatzyme and Optimise to improve the digestion of non-starch polysaccharides and phytate.
The use of fats and oils in feedmills can be a problem because of the need for specialist storage and handling systems. Optivite's Optifat Specialist Fats, made in a dedicated plant, are a range of free flowing dry mixes that can be simply added at the hand tip point. We also produce the Optomega products containing high levels of omega-3 fatty acids, that are of value for promoting fertility and health and can also be used to produce added value animal products; eggs, milk and meat.
